Spazio IT has selected Oracle’s Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF) as the preferred development environment for implementing its Web applications. The rationale for Spazio IT selection is explained in this presentation.
The video here below shows some of the advantages of Oracle ADF.
Oracle ADF is able to target both desktop and mobile devices.
Online demonstrations of Oracle ADF are available here.
Though the development side is very powerful and based on professional tools like JDeveloper and WebLogic, it is anyhow possible to implement Web applications that do not require any software license at run-time. In particular the run-time platform selected by Spazio IT consists of the following open source components:
- Oracle ADF Essentials (Oracle ADF)
- GlassFish Web Server EE4J (Web/Application Server – downloads)
- Preferred – MySQL/MariaDB
- Supported – PostgreSQLData Base Management System
- Java Jakarta EE (Programming Language)
This run-time platform has been successfully deployed on both Linux/Unix and Windows machines.
The following image shows a Web application developed by Spazio IT for Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli.
Spazio IT has migrated all its ADF based Web applications to Oracle JDeveloper Version 12.2.1.4.0, Glassfish 6.0.0 and Java 8.
In March 2024 Oracle has published a statement of direction for Oracle Fusion Middleware that also covers Oracle ADF and JDeveloper. You can read the Fusion Middleware Statement of Direction here.
